Job Summary: Responsible for coordinating, developing, implementing, and evaluating law enforcement and public safety training programs to ensure high-quality instructional delivery and compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Provides instructional leadership through curriculum development, classroom instruction, instructor evaluation and continuous program improvement using modern adult-learning methodologies. Oversees daily operations of assigned training programs, including instructor coordination, scheduling, curriculum management, student support, registration, invoicing and daily program operations. Serves as a key operational resource for police academy and public safety training activities while fostering professional relationships with students, instructors, partner agencies and community members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree and 5 years experience or, a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Licensing Requirements:
ACT 120 required.
Must meet MPOETC instructor certification requirements or possess certification.
Valid driver's license.
Hiring Range: $57,469-$64,500
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in curriculum development for law enforcement, public safety, and/or emergency services training programs is highly preferred. Experience should include developing and implementing interactive, scenario-based, and student-centered instructional methodologies that move beyond traditional lecture and PowerPoint-driven delivery models
- Experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technology tools to improve workplace efficiency, communication, curriculum development, data organization, instructional delivery, and administrative operations is preferred.
- Experience instructing law enforcement, public safety, emergency services, or related adult education curriculum is preferred. Experience teaching in academy, in-service, collegiate, or professional development environments is desirable.
- Ability to assist, when necessary, in the administration and daily operations of a municipal police academy or comparable public safety training program is preferred. This includes demonstrated skills in personnel management, cadet supervision and discipline, program coordination, scheduling, organizational leadership, customer service, regulatory compliance, and maintaining a structured paramilitary training environment.
- Experience coordinating training schedules, instructors, facilities, and training resources for complex public safety programs is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with law enforcement agencies, instructors, students, community partners, and regulatory or accrediting bodies is preferred.
- Experience with MPOETC standards, police academy operations, police training requirements, or comparable state law enforcement certification systems is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, training documentation, contracts, policies, or program evaluations, are preferred.

- Coordinates law enforcement, security, and civilian training programs to ensure efficient scheduling and assignment of qualified instructors, as well as competitive events. - (Essential)
- Prepares training calendar and ensure instructors, rooms, firing range, driving pad and tactical building are assigned. - (Essential)

- Reviews instructor payroll/time sheets for accuracy on a bi-weekly basis and serves as a proxy for on-line payroll approval. - (Essential)
- Processes monthly contract billings/invoices and travel reimbursement forms to the Director for approval. - (Essential)
- Communicates with staff, instructors, students and clientele to ensure an overall efficient and effective operation of the Law Enforcement Training Unit. - (Essential)

- Conducts Community Outreach to includes tours and special events. - (Essential)
- Coordinates continuing education and professional development of instructor cadre. - (Essential)
- Prepares 335 Forms for new course offerings. - (Essential)
- Updates unit specific spreadsheets and class confirmations. - (Essential)
- Instructs students in assigned area; selects, develops, and delivers curriculum, including lectures, discussion, quizzes, and exams to meet established guidelines. - (Essential)
- Reviews curricula to ensure compliance with industry standards and/or accrediting bodies and makes necessary revisions. - (Essential)
- Monitors proper use and care of equipment during training. - (Essential)
- Develops, implements, and manages curricula regardless of delivery mode. - (Essential)
