Job Summary: The Student Support Coordinator position is a requirement under the GED grant fund that HACC receives from the PA Department of Education, Division of Adult Basic Education and Family Literacy for the purpose of barrier and transition support. Barrier support is designed to help students proactively identify issues that could prevent regular class attendance or interfere with their educational progress and to provide up front support to address those issues. Transition support is designed to help students identify their goals for postsecondary education/training and/or employment, establish a plan to reach those goals, and complete the steps in the plan. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in related field, minimum 5 years training/teaching or industry experience or combination of both.

Licensing Requirements:

- Valid driver's license

Hiring Range: $26.00 - $37.00

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree and secondary or post-secondary education experience

Job Specific Task List:

  • Meet with students to identify personal, academic, transportation, employment, childcare, or other barriers that may affect their ability to attend classes or successfully complete their educational program. - (Essential)
  • Provide proactive support and connect students with appropriate internal and community resources to address identified barriers. - (Essential)
  • Assist students in developing strategies to improve attendance, engagement, and educational progress - (Essential)
  • Help students identify their postsecondary education, career, training, and/or employment goals - (Essential)
  • Assist students in developing individualized transition plans and identifying the steps needed to achieve their goals. - (Essential)
  • Monitor student progress toward established goals and provide follow-up support as appropriate. - (Essential)
  • Assist students with accessing community resources, workforce services, educational opportunities, and other support services. - (Essential)
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student contacts, services provided, referrals, and progress in accordance with grant and College requirements. - (Essential)
  • Collaborate with instructors, Workforce Development staff, Student Services, and community partners to coordinate appropriate student support. - (Essential)
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with applicable College policies and grant requirements - (Essential)
  • Participate in meetings, training, professional development, and grant-related activities as required. - (Essential)
  • Support activities designed to improve student retention, completion, and successful transition to postsecondary education, training, or employment. - (Essential)
  • Perform other duties as assigned. - (Standard)

Job Type: Part-Time (less than 1,000 hours)

If part time, hours per week: 5-10

Pennsylvania Work Location Requirement: All work, teaching, meetings, and activities related to this position must be performed within the State of Pennsylvania. This position does not offer a remote work option.
