Job Summary: This employee is the College expert on internships and experiential learning, helping to promote the professional development and career readiness of HACC students. This employee will forge strong relationships with – and serve as the liaison between – students, faculty, staff, and employers to promote internships, shadowing opportunities, informational interviewing, and other experiential learning opportunities. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and three years experience related to career education, human resources, or a similar field required. Or, a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with local, regional, and national employers to provide internship and experiential learning opportunities for HACC students; develops relationships with community organizations such as chambers of commerce, PA Career-Links, societies for human resource management, and workforce investment boards; serves as a liaison to connect employers with HACC students, faculty, and staff. - (Essential)
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements internship fairs, networking events, industry presentations, and employer visits that focus on internships and experiential learning; plans, coordinates, and implements special events that serve Perkins-defined special populations; develops and carries out programming, workshops, and resources that prepare students to enter internships and position them for success, such as soft skills, employer expectations, dealing with co-workers, professional language and communication expectations, and professional dress. - (Essential)
  • Creates resources, collateral, and materials to help students prepare for and successfully complete internships; solicits input from faculty and academic programs and tailors some resources to target students in specific programs. - (Essential)
  • Tracks student participation in internships and other experiential learning and shares that information with key college stakeholders; creates systems of data collection, assessment tools and practices, and analysis reports to gather feedback and evaluate the efficacy of internships and experiential learning efforts. - (Essential)
  • Ensures that the unique needs of virtual students are met through the implementation of virtual-specific programming. - (Essential)
  • Stays abreast of state and federal regulations and the evolution of case law that may affect HACC’s internship offerings and its institutional responsibility for compliance; develops expertise in the content area; remains current on new and innovative practices in the field; develops and maintains a network with colleagues through professional organizations and other types of professional alliance; researches and identifies best practices for internships and experiential education. - (Essential)
  • Identifies and resolves problems, ensures consistent application of rules and regulations, and handles complex and high-level complaints or issues. - (Essential)
  • Travels to all HACC locations regularly to conduct meetings and to deliver programming; additional travel to some off-site locations may also be required. - (Essential)
