Job Summary: The Assistant director is responsible for collaborating across student support units and academic departments to improve the student experience. Other expectations include the Assessment and Evaluation of initiative effectiveness; conducting, identifying, planning, analyzing and reporting out actionable insights from qualitative and or quantitative student outcome research findings, in areas such as but not limited to career, transfer, completion successes for the purpose of improving the student experience and telling the student story at the college.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience required, or a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Licensing Requirements: Valid Driver's license required.

- Develop and implement strategies for the collection, management, and dissemination of student outcome data with emphasis on transfer, career and completion related metrics - under the guidance of the AVP. Ensure the accuracy, relevance and accessibility of data related to student outcomes; adopt proactive outreach and student recruitment strategies for qualitative data, develop collaborative work relationships to share data insights for action, and to ensure maximum student response rates and data robustness; use mixed methods to collect comprehensive student outcome information. - (Essential)
- Translate data into insight through visual storytelling by developing accessible, meaningful and actionable reports, dashboards, and infographics that communicate student outcome trends. Tailor visualizations for diverse audiences including internal and external stakeholders, i.e., students, faculty, staff, executive leadership to support decision making. - (Essential)
- Conduct student research including focus groups to understand student needs, preferences, and behaviors. - (Essential)
- Explore, integrate and promote innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools and platforms, to streamline workflows, enhance data analysis, and improve operational efficiencies within the division. Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend their use to strengthen data informed decision making. - (Essential)
- Assist and lead in the evaluation or assessment of initiatives and programs related to student success and engagement, including onboarding, retention, transfer, and career readiness efforts. Work with stakeholders to improve practices based on findings. Research and identify best practices for collecting and disseminating career-related data, such as first-destination employment outcomes and student testimonials. - (Essential)
- Collaborate with Institutional Research and other data custodians to align data efforts, ensure data integrity, and provide contextual analysis that supports institutional goals. Contribute to the development and refinement of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to student experience and outcomes. - (Essential)
- Travel to all HACC locations as needed to conduct regular in person group trainings or other in person required activities. - (Essential)
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a centralized student outcomes resource hub, such as a graduate outcomes or data literacy website or shared drive, that houses training materials, glossaries, templates, tutorials, and success stories. - (Standard)
- Under the guidance of the AVP represent the division in relevant committees, task forces, and external partnerships related to student success research, assessment, or technology integration. Share best practices, findings, and innovations at local, state, or national conferences. - (Essential)
- Support the creation and implementation of action plans based on outcome data, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to address identified gaps and opportunities in student success, retention, and progression. - (Essential)
