Job Summary: The Director of Labor and Employee Relations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for labor relations, employee relations, and employee engagement. This role ensures fair, consistent, and legally compliant employment practices while fostering a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
The Executive Director serves as a key advisor to leadership on complex employee matters, labor strategy, and risk mitigation, and partners closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and support institutional effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
· Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in labor relations, including contract administration, grievances, and arbitration management
· Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in employee relations
· Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations, including EEO
· Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
Licensing Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License

- Oversee the resolution of complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes - (Essential)
- Lead or supervise workplace investigations, including EEO, discrimination, harassment, and misconduct complaints, ensuring timely, thorough documentation and reporting of investigations and case outcomes - (Essential)
- Serve as a resource to employees and managers in resolving workplace concerns - (Essential)
- Oversee employee engagement and employee recognition programming - (Essential)
- Develop, review, and interpret HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements - (Essential)
- Monitor changes in employment laws and recommend policy updates and best practices - (Essential)
- Ensure consistent application of policies across the institution - (Essential)
- Collaborate with the Vice President for Academic Affairs in labor relations activities - (Essential)
- Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies on employment-related matters - (Essential)
- Represent the institution in hearings, mediations, and legal proceedings as needed - (Essential)
- Design and deliver training programs on employee relations, labor relations, compliance, and workplace conduct - (Essential)
- Support leadership development in areas such as conflict resolution, performance management, and progressive discipline - (Essential)
- Oversee tracking and reporting of grievances, investigations, and employee relations trends - (Essential)
- Prepare reports and analytics to inform leadership decision-making - (Essential)
- Lead or support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives within Human Resources - (Essential)
- Participate in institutional committees, meetings, and professional development opportunities - (Essential)
- Support broader Human Resources initiatives, as needed - (Essential)
