Assistant Director, Financial Aid (Financial Aid Systems )

Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide an oversight of the college wide financial aid system operations and to serve as the liaison between functional and technical responsibilities in the daily operations.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, Data Science or related field of study;
- 4 years related experience including
- 1 year of supervisory experience
- experience with Banner or related ERP such as PeopleSoft, Colleague, Jenzabar.

Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Licensing Requirements:

Valid Driver's License
PA Act-15 Clearance

Hiring Range: Starting at $70,400

Job Specific Task List:

  • Manage financial aid operations systems to optimize efficiency and effectiveness in underwriting students’ success; operate and manage the data load, packaging, and financial aid awarding processes (including fiscal reporting and compliance); implement improvements for service delivery and developing operating procedures; write programs to improve efficiency and reduce errors; monitor, analyze, review, and revise programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements; evaluate Banner patches and upgrades, assess the impact on current and future financial aid processes, and provide functional testing of upgrades. - (Essential)
  • Coordinate automated and scheduled financial aid outreach operations for the college; communicate with financial aid unit employees and other internal stakeholders to ensure clear and effective financial aid communications to students; leverage FAFSA outputs (e.g. ISIR) and collaborate with the admissions unit to increase student enrollment through strategic outreach to prospective students. - (Essential)
  • Serve as the liaison between the Financial Aid unit and the Office of Information Technology and Learning Experience; manage Banner security classes and process Banner financial aid modules technical system access requests; act as the Financial Aid security point of contact for both internal and external entities. - (Essential)
  • Collaborate with the Director of Financial Aid with entering data for the upcoming aid year such as new year roll information, budget information, and reporting into the Banner Financial Aid module. - (Essential)
  • Create and streamline reports to help all areas of the financial aid unit review and assess their effectiveness and impact on student success and enrollment. Collaborate with Institutional Reporting, the registrar’s office, and other college units as needed. - (Essential)
  • Identify and resolve problems; ensure consistent application of rules and regulations; handle complex and high-level complaints or issues, in consultation with other college leadership as necessary. - (Essential)
  • Direct the workflow of assigned team members, using data to drive decisions; Hire, train, develop, motivate, supervise and evaluate staff consistent with organizational and strategic goals; prioritize, schedule and assign work for staff, including work-study student workers; provide technical direction; assess resource needs. - (Essential)
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in the content area and remain current on new and innovative practices in the field; develop and maintain a network with colleagues through professional organizations and other types of professional alliances. - (Essential)
  • Represent the financial aid unit at campus meetings and conferences; serve as a liaison between departments, external organizations, the public and other agencies; coordinate office activities with other campus departments and external agencies; act on behalf of the college director of financial aid as needed; travel to all HACC campus locations to conduct and participate in meetings, training, and events as required. Must have a dedicated high speed connection for connection to the College's resources when working off campus, when applicable. - (Essential)
  • All financial aid staff will be expected to participate in awarding financial aid, conducting student verifications, SAP appeal reviews, and coverage of customer service as assigned. All staff may be assigned to cover evening and/or weekend hours. - (Essential)
  • Collaborate with the director and other assistant directors as part of the financial aid leadership team to improve the student experience and ensure the successful and compliant awarding of state and federal student aid. - (Essential)
