Job Summary: HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in HVAC beginning August 2024. This is a school-year position scheduled to work mid-August to mid-May. There is potential to teach additional courses each semester and during the summer term for pay in addition to the base salary.
The position will be based on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus and may also teach courses on-campus at other HACC campus locations.
This position will teach courses covering a variety of HVAC topics including theory and hands-on skills to prepare students for roles as HVAC technicians in residential and commercial settings.
Full-time faculty are responsible for teaching, student academic advising, professional development, and service to the college and the department, which includes serving on committees, participating in assessment of curriculum, and supporting equity-minded student success initiatives. HACC seeks faculty who are committed to putting diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into action in and out of the classroom.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in related field and 3 years industry experience OR Industry certifications (such as Federal EPA 608 “Universal” certification or R-410A Handling and Safety “closed book” certification) and 3 years industry experience.
Willingness to teach day, evening, weekend, and on or off-campus classes.
Licensing Requirements: Please note that all teaching faculty are required to comply with PA Act 15. You will need to present completed clearances and training certificates at the time of hire. EPA 608, R410A safety and other HVAC/R certifications

Job Specific Task List:
- Teaches assigned HVAC courses.
- Participates in curriculum development and maintenance.
- Provides academic support and advising to students including establishing and maintaining a schedule of office hours.
- Participates in college governance by serving on joint, ad hoc, faculty, campus, division and discipline committees.
- Participates in the recruitment and hiring of new faculty through participation on assigned search committees.
- Participates in college and community service activities.
- Participates in professional growth activities and maintains awareness of new trends and developments within areas of instructional responsibility.
- Coordinate, plan, organize, and instruct academic courses according to approved course syllabus.
- Provide high quality and consistent academic instruction to students.
- Keep students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete scholastic records, including attendance records.
- Maintain scheduled office hours.
- Ensure that assigned classes are held as scheduled.
- Organize and maintain class work and assignments.
- Strive for the qualities delineated in the criteria for faculty evaluation used by the college.
- Be thoroughly familiar and comply with all college policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Work in a professional, collegial, and team-oriented manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
